Due to the pandemics ever changing restrictions, and after the cancellation of Local 385s events for the year, we have decided to also cancel Helmet Club events for the duration of 2020.
This was a difficult decision to make, but between the outbreaks at the stations, and many of our members being in the at risk category, I believe this is the right decision in order to protect the health of our membership.
That being said, we have been busy since March, just not in the traditional way. In our motto it states that the Helmet Club is both a social, and welfare organization. We have not been able to be very social, but, we have been very busy on the welfare side for our members. Helmet Club, in conjunction with Local 385 has helped safely prepare over 1,600 heat and eat meals for our members and their families who have either been in isolation, or quarentined due to Covid 19. We were also able to help support a member and their family with a fundraiser for an ill family member. As always, if you know of a member, or members in need, please reach out and let us know.
I know that everyone has still paid in through the year. So, to help offset your payments in this year, next year the member will not have to pay for any events. This offers many of the new members an opportunity to try things that they might not have tried before, and offers others the opportunity to spend that money on more raffle tickets for bigger and better prizes.
Feel free to contact any of the Officers with any questions, or concerns.
Again, I apologize for the inconvenience, but for the general health and well-being of our membership, and to align with the decisions already made with Local 385 we feel this is the decision that needed to be made at this time.
Stay safe, and stay healthy.
